Gustave is my seven year old siamese cat who is very intelligent. He acts like a dog and… even more! A real “dogcat” who comes when we call and who cries when we leave!

My house is out in the country, between two villages. I have a huge backyard. When it’s pouring rain, we have to wear rubber boots to cross very large puddles to get to the compost box. In front of my house there is a beautiful river with a bicycle path next to it. I just love it! I can run or bike on it away from cars. There is also a soccer stadium near my home where I play soccer with other dads and where I occasionally coach young boys. Soccer is my favorite sport.

I like sports just as much as I like animals. When I was young I biked, cross country skied and played competitive soccer. All this took a lot of training. Now I sometimes go swimming and enjoy playing water-polo. I started running thirteen years ago aiming to be in good shape for soccer. At first my knees hurt a lot after running just two kilometers. Now I can run a full marathon (42.2 km) and I am very proud! Of course, I play hockey quite often at outdoor rinks. Real hockey with the neighbours in my area.
I have done a very crazy but funny thing… I adopted two very cute chickens so we can have fresh eggs. They lay two eggs per day. The black one, Clara, is a little wild. Fred, the reddish chicken, is the most adventurous. I had to build a shelter to protect them from the foxes and raccoons. What I fear the most, however, is the skunk which is hanging around the shed. I have been trying to befriend her by talking to her in the evening before closing the door of the chicken coop. I do my best to avoid startling her so she won’t spray me… Yuck!!!
Apart from sports, I enjoy watching classical and modern ballet. Music is also very present in my life. I play guitar, flute, piano and saxophone. I am a music and cinema enthusiast. I rarely watch television. In fact I do not even own one! In the evenings I read for my own pleasure. When I have no illustration contracts I also do acrylic painting. However, I have been so busy lately that my acrylic paintbrush is gathering a lot of dust.
This is my studio. It is in the basement of my house where I have everything I need around me. These photos were taken while I was illlustrating Le zoo de Yayaho. As I finish each illustration, I pin it on the bulletin board in front of me. This helps me visualize a more global picture of the book I am working on.
